During last night’s post-fight press conference, Dana White stated that Rashad Evans would be given a light heavyweight title shot against Forrest Griffin. With his one-punch effort at UFC 88, Evans leap-frogged Lyoto Machida to become the number 1 contender to the title. A Machida-Evans qualifier bout would certainly make sense, as both fighters aren’t quite qualified to be the number 1 contender in the UFC’s premier division, but I doubt the UFC would want to put us through 15 minutes of two guys waiting and backing up.
